The Missing Pieces to "The Secret"

The Missing Pieces to “The Secret.”

The premise of “The Secret,” is fantastic. It teaches you that you can create your reality using the power of your thoughts and feelings. Of course, the premise is not new. Throughout history, particularly in the 20th century, these concepts were popularized by Wallace Wattles in “The Science of Getting Rich,” written in 1910, Charles Haanel in “The Master Key System” written in 1917, and of course, probably the most popular and well-known, Napoleon Hill in “Think and Grow Rich,” written in 1937. I should say “the most popular” until now! Rhonda Byrne’s 2006 phenomenal success of “The Secret” has been a run-away best-seller supplanting even the new “Harry Potter” on the New York Times Best-Seller book list. The self-help book is the biggest seller of its kind in history. A great marketing premise, beginning with teaser excerpts on You Tube, and calling it “The Secret” (who doesn’t want to know a secret?), a well-made, feature length slick and exciting docu-drama dvd closed the sale, and has shown (without a doubt) that the Law of Attraction is alive and well in the universe! There is no question in my mind that because everybody involved in the making of “The Secret” was practicing the Law of Attraction, The Secret” teachers have been on “Larry King Live” – twice, “The Ellen Degeneris Show,” and the show of shows for any burgeoning self-help premise, “Oprah” – twice. And not one penny has ever been spent for advertising.

Why is “The Secret” so popular? I believe that it is filling a real need for people at this time in history. Folks have been feeling like they have very little control over their destinies until they see “The Secret.” The consciousness of the world has been less than empowered. The time was ripe for somebody to repackage these ideas and bring them to the fore, and I’m glad “The Secret” people have had such an amazing response. It’s about time! These tools are needed.

One of the most prevalent criticisms of “The Secret” is that it mostly speaks to our abilities to create material wealth for ourselves. What about creating world peace? What about helping folks other than ourselves? Perhaps that information will be in the sequel. Did you know a sequel is on its way? And while I wouldn’t say this is necessarily a criticism, my partner and I have noticed that there are a few missing pieces to “The Secret” that are not overtly dealt with in the film.

One of those pieces is helping folks determine what it is they really want. Desire is a very important piece for receiving that which you desire. People are not aware of their true desires and core values until you begin to talk to them, and dig deeper. The reality is that most people don’t care about being rich, or having a million dollars. They think they do, because they are told they should. What they really want, when you begin to dig deeper, is freedom. They want to be able to do the things they want to do, when they want to do them, without the cloud of bills and the pressures of the workaday world impeding them. And yes, they want to have money to help others, too.

Another missing piece is programming. Unless the concepts from “The Secret” which are somewhat foreign to people, are programmed into their subconscious minds, it will be difficult to utilize the Law of Attraction in the best way possible.

And yet another missing piece is underlying beliefs. If someone believes that they don’t deserve their desires, or that money is evil, or that there isn’t enough to go around in the Universe, or any of a great number of other potential impeding beliefs, these beliefs will impact whether “The Secret” works or not.

And the last missing piece is the constant conscious monitoring of one’s thoughts and feelings. For unless one is in alignment to receive that which they desire by feeling positive, and believing that one’s desires are on their way, not a whole lot will change.

My partner, Kent Ogletree and I, have created a program which addresses all of these missing pieces. We call it “The Secret to ‘The Secret,’ The Law of Attraction in Action.” This includes a cd (to deal with subconscious programming), a workbook (to address the negative underlying beliefs and conscious programming), and an online support group which teaches folks how to determine what they really want, and then the group supports the individual in achieving their desires. Using this program will finally put the Law of Attraction to work in the way it was meant to be.

A testimonial from one of our students:

Without a doubt this is the BEST program that I have experienced on the Law of Attraction. Other programs seem to tell you what needs to be done and why, but fail to provide the means of getting you to your Desired Destination. It is like having a luxury sports car with the gas tank empty, and no gas station in sight. This program not only provides the luxury sports car, but fills the tank and even pushes the gas pedal for you. All you have to do is relax and know where you want to go, and it gives you the means of getting there effortlessly. All you have to do is pay attention to the road.I absolutely Love this program.Paulina Want
